I would like to share a poem I wrote in the '80s in a Creative Writing Class. Wanted to see how you all receive it.--
A Woman's Tools
The busy housewife has her tools,
Things she always uses.
She has her special cleaning rules,
Can even replace fuses.
A broom which sweeps.
A mop which cleans.
Another one which waxes.
These things are hers,
Which she must use
Before she ever relaxes.
The busy housewife needs her tools
Because she"s always cleaning.
Husbands think wives have it made. Fools!
She isn"t just day-dreaming!
The appliance which washes,
And one which cooks,
One for washing dishes,
A rag which dusts,
A window cleaner.
I wonder for what she wishes?
A housewife wishes for one more tool;
She"s getting tired and weary!
A maid would be just fine and dandy!
The housework"s getting dreary.
A girl who sweeps,
A girl who cleans,
A girl who even waxes,
A girl who mops,
A girl who scrubs,
While wifey just relaxes!
