Congratulations, Sarah! It may look scary now, but it will be beautiful before it is all over. Where is the creek located in relation to where your new home is going to be built?

The creek is along the back, then the lot, then the house...in the middle pic you can see the orange fence that is also in the third pic if you look real hard.

It's so scary looking now because the house that WAS on the lot burned last year, and they are just now tearing down and cleaning up the lot...

I know you are excited. I would be, too. We have a little creek running down the side as the boundary between our property and the "junk" man next door...

You silly girl...we are HERE to SHARE in each others accomplishments, joys, sorrows or whatever...I just think it is WAY neat that we get to share the NEW HOUSE joy at the same time!!!! I know how tickled crazy I have been with the new house plans...and that meakes me EVEN more tickled that I know you are going to be going through the SAME thing...you are going to have a blast...even if there happens to be some "hiccups" (I love Lynnie's saying there) along the way...we will be there to scare them out of you...(the hiccups that is!)

Thank you again, Vanessa! kissies I love your outlook on life! thumbup

Merme, I have the plans here with me...it's awesome! cool The idea is for the exterior to fit into the nieghborhood, which is the original main street of town, so most the houses are at least 100 years old. It's about 2200 square feet, which will be quite a change from the 1000 square feet we have now. grinnnn The lot is about 120 x 60...

Barley, will you keep this thread going as the work progresses so we can all keep tabs on what is happening?

I like the bungalow style of one of the other houses in the picture, too, with the tall brown roof. Is that a type of structure one sees often in your area? Will you also have a one-story bungalow of some sort? A porch or a stoop?

oh gee, I'm just busting to get more details!

Actually, the house across the street is a poor example of the neighborhood houses...most are big with victorian flair...

Ours will be two stories with a covered front porch, also with victorian flair. thumbup

It sounds downright divine, Sarah!

Do you have a sketch of the front elevation you can share?

Wow, that isn't far away at all...I was thinking that it would take at least a year!!! You'll be in there before you know it.... thumbup I can't wait to see some pictures as it starts moving along....

We have a creek downtown that is at least as big as that one....and all the houses downtown are in danger of floods....I was just wondering if you'll need to get flood insurance?

The builder got a FEMA permit...as long as all the vital parts of the house are above a certain height, we won't need flood insurance, 'cause it won't be in the flood plain.

I first saw that and was like "Wow, technology has advanced to the point where we can build houses in rivers and flood planes!" Then i scrolled down and saw the other pictures ^.^
