Hi!

My name is Sam and I'm also from Missouri. I live in the southeastern part about 60 miles south of St. Louis.

I've been lurking around here for a couple of months now and love all the info that the site/forum has to offer!

I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to gardening and never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. I never had a house plant up until 2 years ago when my mom passed away and I kept a few of hers. Many I gave away thinking they wouldn't survive, now I wish I hadn't!
I didn't even know what plants I did have (with the exception of 1) until I searched them up here on the forum, and learned a lot about them! Thanks for have such an informative site. smile

Hi there Sam, it's nice to meet you! [Linked Image] I'm really glad that you finally signed in, so we could officially welcome you to the forum!

We're just a bunch of friendly people who are eager to help each other & share gardening experiences (as well as hobbies, pets, kids, recipies... the list goes on, as you may have noticed). Many of us have found good friends here, & have become like one big family!

You mentioned your house plants... what are they? I'm looking forward to getting to know you & hearing about what you have (or hope to have) in your gardens ... & of course, about your kids, pets, etc.

You've probably figured out by now that we LOVE pictures here... so get your camera ready & make yourself at home!
I hope to see you again soon... & often! [Linked Image]

Hi Patty smile

I have 2 kids. A son, 13 and a daughter,6. I also have a cat and a dog.

I only have a few house plants at the moment.
I have 2 Dracaena's. One is the Corn Stalk plant and the other is a Marginata (I actually have several of these if you count by the number of stalks, lol). I also have a Mother In Laws Tongue and an Umbrella tree.

I plan on getting more in the future, but I have been focusing on some landscaping ideas for my yard. It's a good size yard, and most of it gets full sun. The front yard is pretty bare, with the exception of some hedges across the front porch, a Japanese Maple at on corner and a regular maple in front, on the west side. The east side/front part of my yard is bare as well, except one Maple that is a bit larger, and a lilac bush.

I also have a fenced in area in the back. The only surviving plants I see back there are some mums (and one that I haven't identified yet next to the driveway). There were more, but they weren't taken care of after my mom passed away. My Dad just mowed over everything. He isn't a "plant/flower" person..

I also have some stray rose bushes growing at along one side of the house, I'm looking up some option on what to do with those now, lol.

I realize I am babbling on here. Im sure I will have plenty of questions for the forum for ideas, help, etc. I know I will need it!

Thanks again for the welcome,
Sam
