Bill posted The Garden Helper stats in another post, and it got me to thinking about a few things...
we have so many people from so many places all over the world with so many backgrounds...
and i am one of the few active members who's member number is only 2 digits so i have seen alot!
These are things I have observed...
for identification of an unusual
plant this is the place to be
to learn how to care for a
plant, animal, structure, or vehicle this is the place to be
for prayers and genuine concern, this is the place to be
for an expert
BUT... this isn't the place for dry humor (it doesn't translate well to the written word), "gallows" "morbid" or any kind of "sadistic" humor (we have way too many tender hearted folks ~ myself included), ethnic or cultural humor (see the comment from above about members from nearly every spot on this green earth), political humor (regardless of the country ~ too many folks from too many sides of too many streets), food related jokes (at my house, we prepare and eat ethnic food from 6 different countries!) and it certainly isn't the place for stereotypes!
I have made so many friends here... some I call daily (or nearly daily), some I email now and again, some I even have gotten to visit. and I have been saddened by several who have shared stories of hurt feelings because another friend (or friends) made a comment or joke that fit in the above categories, stridently corrected a thought, idea, or procedure, or belittled a personally held opinion or stance.
there is no single "guilty" party (don't point fingers at yourselves) and no single "hurt" person (so don't feel singled out). just my
