I just got my oil changed today - when I was done, I had 1/4 of a tank of gas LESS than when I brought it in 40 minutes before ???

I'm sorry Amber. I ran out of gas on the Interstate and I guess that the car I siphoned gas from was yours.

Not 1/4 tank though. I have a really economical car, and this morning I had just over 1/2 tank. I am thinking someone siphoned my gas while "changing" my oil! Is this common?

It must be...
When I took my truck to have the brakes fixed I had a FULL tank. When I got it back I had a quarter of a tank. nutz

Amber have heard of Wal-Marts and some Jiffy lubes that got caught siphoning gas from customers cars. Not all are crooked and some around here are run by women and they treat them great. If they wont let me watch or stay with the car I let them know I kno whow much gas in in the tank and exactly how much change is in the console. Even had one come tell me I was wrong I had a dollar more then I said his boss fired him for even counting the money . laugh Thorny you must have the longest Oklahoma creit card there is siphone gas from a car in Arizona while your in Nashville. smile I wondered what that hose was I stumbled over today. laugh

I guess i'm lucky that i only have had about a quarter tank every time i've gone to a mechanic... I always go to my dealership to do my car's maintenance though. May cost a little more, but i feel safer going there than i do at a gas station where i don't know the people >.<

I brought my car in to have a wheel alignment after my accident and it was near empty, they even wrote it up on the slip "low on gas", so I know they couldn't go nowhere or siphon anything. Usually for the oil change I sit in the car, drive through and it only takes like 10 minutes.

Wow you can do a drive thru oil change? I just moved here so I had no idea where to go. I talked to the guys at work and they all pretty much told me I was crazy. I don't know what to think now! Thanks for telling me about the siphoning - at least I know it happens! I am trying to do a search on google but I can't seem to find anything - I may not be entering in the right keywords though.

We always take a picture of the mileage before we give the car to a new mechanic. And we always tell the mechanic that we've recorded the mileage on the car too. We go to the same mechanic for just about everything and have never had a problem, but with different mechanics, we don't take a chance. Don't know what to tell you to do, but can at least give you advice for he next time you have to take the car it.
