We are novice water gardeners. Forced to relocate runoff rainwater to a french drain to accommodate new sewer system left us with a permanent bog in the lowest corner of our yard. Determined to make lemonade out of this lemon, we are installing an 18x15' fish pond with a bog area. We have installed a retaining wall to hold a flower bed and are trying to determine our anchor plantings-
We are looking for privacy, something manageable in size- about 10-12' tall with a spread of no more than 12'.
We would prefer some type of tree- but it needs to like wet ground- any suggestions?
We also are interested in several types of plantings to add color- so far we have "donations" of rushes, rose bushes, iris and lillies.

I am currently in love with the weeping blue atlas cedars. They stay smaller, are easily maintained, and like water. They are also a beautiful silvery green color.
