I have a gardenia that is doing very well, bloomed already, but now it is too big, and I want to put in my shaded backyard, but I also want to propagate it so I can enjoy it bloom later. help!

Question: Is the gardenia in a pot or does it stay outside?? I have both kinds. The one in a pot blooms alot, but has to be repotted every second year. When repotting, I trim alot of the roots off so I don't have to get a larger pot. The one in my yard has finished blooming & I trimmed (about 12")it right after it bloomed. It gets only morning sun & has done very well. Had many, many blooms this summer. It was nearly 6' tall before I trimmed it. Sorry, I can't help you with the propagating. Not very good at that. Happy Gardening, StanetteTN6
