I finally found 2 small
plants of the cardinal
flower vine last summer, after looking for a few years. I had heard that hummingbirds just love it. Unfortunately, I didn't find an arbor that I liked to
plant it on til a few weeks after I bought the
plants, so they never really flourished too much. BUT... I did manage to save some
seeds, and these
seeds were the fastest to germinate that I have ever tried. They literally popped up the day after I planted them in the peat pellets.
Well... it's been too cold this
spring to
plant them outside yet
, and this morning this sweet little
flower said hello to me. Isn't it cute?
The entire open
flower is only the size of a nickel. It is in the morning glory family.
