Ok this is probably another dim bulb question but here goes.

In the fall after the plant has died back how do you remember in a mixed bed which one had which kind of bloom on it? As you can imagine I would like to be able to identify the yellow canna when the time comes to dig it up. But tagging it isn't going to work cause it dies back right? Or am I just missing the point entirely? I've never grown them before so I don't know what to do.

You should tag them before they die back!
Or let it go hodge~podge next year,
and be surprised at what you get the second
time around without knowing....

how do I tag them? They are of course planted way to close together grrrrrh. Should I just stick something in the container closest to it and hope for the best? I'm hoping to be able to divide it in the spring and send some to a friend. Am I way off base?

YES! I saw that tip somewhere...can't remember where...but sometimes you can find broken blinds (the plastic ones) at yard sales and stuff cheap. Thanks for reminding me of that one weezie - I'll have to keep my eyes peeled wink

I have those horrible blinds. The landlord has them in all his places. Do you think he would mind if I cut them up? lol
