This is actually a song I once wrote for a Scots chap that I was mad about - we were together for 18 months and the relationship was pretty stormy, but the feelings and emotions made for some good poetry and songs . . .

I got a feelin' that you could have died last night
You could be layin' out somewhere in the early mornin' light
Guess I won't be checkin' 'round the taverns any more
And you won't be waitin' for me outside Nellie's back door

You're a lost lonely travelin' boy, you're driftin' just like me
We're in our middlin' years, rollin' on like that ole sea
For you and I we're homeless and we got no place to be
We're lost, we're goin' nowhere you and me

Now, I got a feelin' that you could have died last night
You could be layin' out somewhere in the early mornin' light
Guess I won't be checkin' 'round the taverns any more
And you won't be waitin' for me outside Nellie's back door

.........

There's another verse, of course - I'll get back to this . . . I just wanted to give an idea of how you can use your poetry skills to put a song together. Some of you, by what I see in your poetry, are most likely already doing this.

Thanks, Jamie.

It sounds good when I do it too. One of my easier little ditties.

I very rarely get the guitar out now.
