Hi,
I am new at gardening. I have two methods: organic and chemical. I have tomatoes, bell and banana
peppers, eggplant, zucchini, straight neck yellow squash, and lots of cucumbers on trellises. I started from
seeds and planted early in March. The eggplants are just now starting to
flower. I must have over 500 cherry tomatoes and it is taking over the garden. I have under estimated the footprint needed for this monster! It is over 7" tall and still
growing strong! I have some
peppers and they are still budding and flowering. I should have over 100 cucumber straight 8"s but the bees are not too aggressive. I have lots of
flowers but not lots of cucumbers.
I double turned the soil. I added organic and regular fertilizer. I cannot tell the difference between the two. I did not use bug spray and lost lots of cabbage and collards to caterpillars. But that is okay, now the wasps are having a feast and I am enjoying the bees. The beetles and other bugs are fun to look at. Not all are bad bugs. I have been learning a lot from books especially the old books of the 20 and 30"s. My favorite magazine is Organic Gardener and Mother Earth News.
I will be planting some fall crops soon. I hope to have some pumpkins for Halloween. Corn and winter squash will be on the list to
plant and making a compost bin too.
Having lots of FUN!!!
