I planted a half-dozen lisianthus in one of the flower beds a couple of weeks ago, and they are blooming like mad. They have tulip-like blue flowers that seemingly last forever. None of the blooms have faded yet.

If you like fresh flowers in the house (my girlfriend puts vases full in almost every room) you might try these. A couple of websites said that the cut flowers will last for two weeks. muggs

Well, I really love cut flowers in the house...and those are beautiful although I am not familiar with them! Are they fragrant?

I read somewhere that the seeds were very small, too. The plants I have are store-bought (from Lowe's, whose premium plants have always done very well for me), so I haven't seen any of the seeds yet. Next year I'm going to try and start them from seeds.

The flowers don't seem to be fragrant - it's hard to tell because they are next to my gardenias, which are in full bloom (yee-ha!) and a huge Confederate jasmine vine, also in full bloom, the whole yard is so heavy with scent it's almost intoxicating. grinnnn

One negative thing about lisianthus is that they seem to be very fragile. I made the mistake of using overhead irrigation and it beat down two of the plants so bad they almost died, but they are making a comeback.

They sure do produce lots of long-lasting flowers, though.

wow great thanks so much sharky! unfortunately I can't order things online because I don't have a checking account or credit card (I'll never get mixed up with those evil plastic things!) so I ordered their catalogs first and I'm gonna ask for the seeds from the "other site" to see if I can get anything...I'll let ya'll know if I get any luck lol laugh
