I don't know if this was already discussed here, but I was wondering if anyone collects things. I have been collecting hummingbird items for a few years now, and also have a small catstuff collection kit .

I've posted some pictures of cat things that I've collected so far. If you'd like to take a look, here is a link:

http://community.webshots.com/album/102843455advWDq

I'd love to see pictures of your collections - vicarious thrills, you know! laugh

Ohhhhh plants 'n pots now I am really jealous!!!!! Love it, love it, love it!

I love the idea of putting the metal kitties up against the frig....gotta steal that clever idea!!!

How on earth do you keep your cats out of the potpourri(sp)? If that were here they would be chasing it all over the house!lol

Putting a real nest with marbles what a fantastic idea!
You have given this cat collector more ideas....watch out! My kids are going to kill me! To bad MY house!lol
Besides collecting real cats and cat stuff I started collecting old pee pee pots. wavey

shot glasses and elephants are my thing. I have shot glasses from about 8 different countries, 40 states, and countless restaurants, amusement parks, etc... I collect single shots of all kinds and double shots from the Hard Rock restaurants. I have Chicago, London, Atlanta, and Hong Kong.

My elephant collection is a bit smaller and more eclectic. They are mostly gifts and/or things that have caught my eye.

Gravy boats and miniatures. I had a collection of about 50 gravy boats before moving from the high desert. They used to line all my window sills and plate rails. I'd go on "gravy boat" missions to second-hand stores & yard sales. When I finally moved, I had my own yard sale & sold about 3/4 of 'em. I only have about 10, now. They occupy a shelf above the stove. My favorite is one shaped like a little cottage with a matching brick-patterened saucer.

laugh Ah, Weez, being a mostly-Irish girl, I collect faeries, too! Queen Mab is my fav. I have one in bronze and one in pewter. I used to collect pewter & ceramic dragons & even named my old rubberstamp company (back in the early eighties) Dragonwerks, Ltd. grinnnn Talk about total immersion!
Still have a few of those dragons hanging around.....

I have read up a little about the faerie gardening!!! Have you ever heard of that??

faerie gardening

I think it's so cute.

There's alot more info out there about it...
That's just one.
But its so cute of an idea...

Weezie

Do you still do rubberstamping???
I think that's a neat idea too.
I haven't done any crafts
(or crap's as my husband calls it! laugh )
in such a long time.
With the boys, and my mom and activities,
I just don't do it, or have the space,
that the boys wouldn't be getting into.

Ohmigosh, Weez, what a great site! I'm bookmarking that one so I can go back after work, tonite. Thanks!!! thumbup
I used to really be into rubberstamping, mailart & stuff. The conventions were a hoot. So many artists all together showing their stuff & trading. I still have some 20-year-old stamps & embossing powders & ink pads down in the garage. My granddaughter used to love to haul them out & be totally occupied on rainy days.

Catlover - too funny "I will have a pot to pee in!!!!!" :p

My cats don't go near my potpourri and I have lots of it around. I started making my own from any roses I got in flower arrangements. My latest is potpourri for my cousin's daughter. I took home one of the centerpieces from her wedding and let it completely dry out. The colors of the flower petals are really pretty and I've scented it with her favorite scent. I just hope the colors stay.

Jiffymouse... when I was in college I collected pink elephant things. Still have some back at my parents' house. thumbup

I started a collection of toads for a new garden at the end of summer. The wartier, the better!

Aside from that, I've taken up collecting dust bunnies - easy and free of charge! laugh

Lynne,
One of my shot glasses has a koala on it. It is from Australia. My hubby got it when the ship he was stationed on docked in western Australia. So, if you know anyone there, or going there, you might have a source!

I gave my teapot collector friend a cat teapot for her birthday recently. Have not seen a gumball holder though.

I also have a cute pair of hanging silver cat earrings - I wear them when I'm in a funky mood. grinnnn

I used to have a really cute cat banner/flag hanging in my front yard - it had numerous kitten faces on it, but it blew away in a recent wind storm. ters

How old is your niece, and what kinds of things does she have in her collection?

Very nice fountain, Jillie! It looks like the frog is either singing or laughing - can't tell which. I looked at your other fountain too - like that one also. And it, too, has a frog. I really like the Tilandsia on the fountain too. Can't tell... is there some on the blue fountain too?

When I visited my parents in Florida 2 years ago I brought back some tilandsia that was growing on the trees outside their apartment. They managed to live up until this fall - I don't think I brought them inside soon enough. frown I hope to get some more next trip.

Hi Weezie,

It's a ceramic fish sitting upon it's tail, spitting a round spray of water out of it's mouth. I bought it for Jillie at a local nursery, and the man said it was a lantern, but for the life of me couldn't see how to put a candle in it. Jillie thought of standing it on it's tail for the fountain. wink She drilled out it's mouth so the spray attacment to the pump would fit properly.

I haven't seen Mateus in years!

plants 'N Pots, yes, there's a single Tilandsia on the blue fish fountain & two on the jug fountain..They were all blooming when we bought them...I don't think I kept them moist enuf to maintain the flowers. Gotta remind myself every day to go out and spritz them....I love the different varieties...the flowers are breathtaking colors.

Anyway, I also failed to mention that I collect angels and snowmen.......I love things that are cute and you can't beat the two of them!!!! Anyone else collect angels???

Laura, My sis is a huge nascar fan. When Dale Ernhardt crashed, she was still crying a week later. Christmas before last, we got her the photo & piece of a tire mounted in a frame...She cried again...
During races, she yells at the telly (much like she does during Laker's games). The woman's 65 years old! Now, THAT's hard core laugh laugh

It was a very sad time for nascar and all the fans. I'll be just like your sister when I reach that age....lol I yell at the tv now as it is.

Good Morning, Laura wavey
I think she likes Dale Junior, but not as much as his dad. Is there a driver named LaBonte, or something like that? She's mentioned him....When it's Laker's season, I know I'll be able to hear her 100 miles away in Oceanside....... laugh

Do you go through end-of-season-depression? My poor sis gets into this really black mood when NFL season is over (that's her biggest love of ALL). Baseball gives her a big yawn; she says it's tooooo sissy and BORING. I think she divorced one of her husbands because he was a baseball fan....LOL laugh

I'm not into baseball really at all......I collect baseball cards too just because it's a sport....lol It really bores me too, makes me yawn a little also....and yes, I do get a little down when the racing season ends but we don't have too long to wait because the first race is in february so I can handle it....I like football a lot too. I got into nascar because my husband always watched it, and now I could tell you more about it than he could... :p The only thing I really want now for my gordon collection is a piece of his firesuit and then I'll be happy....I have the autograph, sheet metal, and tire...

I collect fabric!

I also like dishes...cups and saucers, teapots...and a tiny, tiny kitchen and a teensy tiny, little dining room......no room now...but that's not going to stop me!

Oh, and I rarely ever use them...just like knowing I have them...somewhere!!

I was thinking of starting another collection. The wallpaper that I want to put in my dining room is a Donna Dewberry paper, sky blue with bunnies...really cute and cottagey! So, I thought I should start searching for bunnies. We have several hopping around in our yard.

Ah Barb, I collected rabbits for years. They're so cute!

My husband and I collect old metal lunchboxes. The ones from before the 1970's are our favorites. They are a riot! We have about seventy of them, I think. Do you remember the ones based on TV shows? We have "The Partridge Family", "Get Smart", "The Beverly Hillbillies", "The A Team", "The Muppet Show", "Mork and Mindy", "Star Trek", "Adam 12", "The Wild Wild West", among others.

Does anyone collect baskets? I'm a Longaberger collector and it is my passion. I really believe that I am addicted. I have so many themes in my home. I don't collect birdhouses but I have received so many as gifts that you would think I was a collector...I'm doing a bedroom in birdhouses. Also have alot of sunflowers and mostly gingerbread people. Have a few Boyd's but not a collector. My mother in law is a Boyd's collector. She probably has over 100.

When I sat here trying to figure out what it is that I collect I realized I get into something for about a year and then I change to something else, whatever strikes my fancy at the time.First it was Coca Cola, then angels, birdhouses, miniatures, primatives, and now its junk, especially for my garden.I laughed while reading about Nascar, my husbands true passion. He has been to Daytona 4 times now and was there when Dale Sr died, very sad, was his favorite driver. This year he came back with pictures of him with Dale Jrs pit crew and a lug nut off of Dale Jrs winning car.Its so funny, he'll have his friends over and they just ohhh and ahhh over this lug nut.Our garage is his museum of Nascar memoribilia.I would probably have to say that collection is the only real thing of value in our whole house  Only maybe second to his wonderful gardening wife and witty children. wink

Lynne, I like your cat things...I collect cats...real ones. heehee...I'm not allowed to bring anymore home tho. laugh I collect fabric like Barb H. does. I take ANY fabric!!! My newest collection is carnival glass. My husband's grandparents must have over 700 pieces down in their basement and I've fallen in love with it. I have 4 of them, but I LOVE them!! I just love the colors and how they shimmer!
