Got it!
You guys guessing separate, or is this a "Phil and Laura" bet together?

Are we really BETTING? Do I need to send 5 bucks to someone? (Is there ANYONE here we can trust to hold the cash? laugh )

And, what happens if no one guesses the exact day? Closest one wins?

Ah-hem.....I'll hold the pot..... :p laugh Sure give it here.....I'll keep it nice and safe.....I wont' be tempted to go shopping with it or anything.....lol

Cindy I guess like you said, if nobody hits the exact day it should just be whomever is closest.....unless 2 people are equally as close before and after the day, then would we go with the closest without going over??? Duh

I was born to gamble, although sadly my wallet doesn't know that.... laugh

We need some pool RULES.

When do we stop the "entries"?

Can we "enter" more than once?

Who holds the money, or do we just PM our address if we win to everyone and they all just mail it directly?

Do we take "PayPal"?
(I love PayPal!)

I agree with Cindy,we need to have a cutoff point for guesses.
I dont see anything wrong with everybody just mailing the 5 bucks to the winner.
1 guess should be the limit, dont ya think?

This is gonna be fun!

Ahh, but that's the beauty of PayPal!
You don't HAVE to have a credit card! Just any bank account that they can transfer money to and from. I always keep money directly IN my PayPal account, though, for those little Ebay emergencies that I don't want Andy to know about! But, usually I just let them put it on my credit card, so Andy will pay it! (He just shakes his head, but he pays!) You can do it so many ways. Just keep money in it like a checking account, or let them take it out of your savings or checking account at your bank, or put it on a credit card. Most people on Ebay pay with PayPal when they buy something from me, and I just let the money build up. If it gets to be a LOT, I have them transfer some of it to my checking account. I could not live without PayPal!

Sure thing, kid. You'd bring a whole new meaning to the lyrics "Oh Beautiful! For spacious skies, for amber waves of grain!...." Who could resist a president able to do that?!

You'd get my vote in a heartbeat. idea

So what part of KY do you live in? I lived in Cincinnati for 12 years and got familiar with various parts of KY. I'm particularly fond of camping in the Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest, as well as Lexington's Horse Park.

Oh! You live in one of the loveliest regions of our entire country, you lucky girl!

Now I wanna know: does anybody ever sing that "Cindy, Cindy" song to you? You know the one "You ought to see my Cindy gal, she lives a-way down south...get along home, Cindy, Cindy!"

Can't help it, curious minds want to know.

mad My cousins used to tease me with that song all the time growing up.
Whenever we came to Kentucky to visit, they'd sing it everytime they saw me! laugh

I was actually NAMED after a song, "Cindy, Oh, Cindy".

My sister was also named after a song. Made me wonder if my parents had no imagination on their own! laugh nutz

If we named kids now after songs, they'd have some pretty weird names... lala

Well, when we were getting ready to have Maxi, picking a name seemed like the hardest thing we'd ever done. We settled on Maximillian for his first name because it works well in a variety of ways. Maxi is cute for a child. Max is believable for an adult. And if he ever gets Knighted by the Queen of England, Sir Maximillian sounds just swell!

But we wanted to include something of Maine in his name because he is the first Mainer ever born on either side of the family. We looked at the names of hundreds of towns in the state and none of them worked for us. How could we name our kid Wiscassset or Ogunquit?! So one night at 2 AM, my then-husband sat up in bed and said "How about Casco?" It isn't just the name of our local bay, but it is also the name of our region where we were living the happiest days of our entire lives. So that became the first of his two middle names.

Each year I take him on a cruise of Casco Bay so he can get a ships view of "his" bay. When he was quite small, he'd tell people "My name is Maximillian Casco Bay!" and I'd remind him to leave out the Bay part. He'd chuckle and say "Oh, ok, Mama!"

That is an AWESOME name!
I love it!
I wish I'd have put that much thought into my daughter's name. My mom bestowed me with the same middle name SHE had, which I've always disliked.....so what do I do? Turn around and give it to my daughter as a gift to my mom! nutz She hates it, too.

Every family has gotta have traditions, Cindy. Maybe she'll like it better if you point that out by singing that one line by Hank Williams Jr "It's a family tradition!" making your eyebrows jump up and down while you sing it. Well, at least she'll be able to laugh about it if not exactly thank you.

You have to PM it to me? It is really as bad as all of that?! Yipes!

Maybe it isn't such a bad thing that I do not have a middle name after all. My name is Mary-Ellen (yes, it has a hyphen) but everyone calls me Mary-El for short. With my first name thus jointed into one word, my mom was too tired to think of a middle name that would go along with it. I'm the youngest of six kids, bless her heart. She had to have been running out of good ideas by the time I came along.

Happy 3000!!!!!

FYI....
It took 279 days to get our first thousand members...
It took 246 days to get our next thousand members....
It only took 130 days to get our next thousand members...

Any bets on how long it will be till we are running 4000 strong??
What's it workin' out to be?

So far, the current rate has been approx. 3.5 members per day since we hit 3000.

BUT...since we only need 44 members to hit 4000 now, G-Mom will win if we get 2 new members a day.

(20 days 'til G-Mom's guess; Nov. 22)
