You might as well enjoy them, Sunny. They are a year-round crop here.

Well I will find out thus afternoon how his first day of school was. But Valarie told us this morning that he was real excited last evening. Then right before bed he said he did not want to go school because he did not want to get the corona virus. Poor baby. His mom had to tell him IF he got sick it would just be like a cold. If she had not have he would not have wanted to go. These are scarey bad times for little ones. I am hoping the school addresses the children's fears today first thing.

At the very least, we are raising a generation of hand washers. It could bloom into one of full-blown OCD.

Tina what does your almanac say about my winter? Last year everyone said we were supposed to have a cold winter but we didn't. We need some cold.

I honestly don't know, Sheri. Neither do I believe all of their predictions.
I hope we get a very wet winter and spring but on the warmer side rather than cooler.
Sweet dreams all.

Tina, they can't predict the weather 24 hrs in advance...but it is still fun to read the farmer's almanac. They used to have lots of interesting facts and such.

Today I will tackle laundry and some baking.

Yes, I know they can't predict, especially in our quickly changing times. But it is fun to read accompanying things like the gophers have dug in two extra feet so watch for heavy snow. I don't purchase these things but an occasional article comes through on the net.
Good morning. No plans for the day. Too hot to plan. It makes me sweat just thinking about it.

It has cooled down here, in fact it is calling for frost tonight. touched

I just picked up my grocery order...they finally got my order of bananas right(half ripe and half green), the last time they were all overripe and I had to use them for muffins.

I could do that in Illinois...buy slightly green ones so they would ripen slowly at home...here no matter how they look when I buy them..they are over ripe in no time.

Mainly they always put the bananas in with cold items....It is a small thing, but grrrrrr.

Val Came today spent a few hours and brought Henry with her. I told the girls we could talk on the computer or the phone.....so she was trying to tell her mom about it when.they were in the car and she got so confused and said, oh I do not know...when I hugged Valarie goodbye I had to force myself not to cry...

I will.say goodnight now. sleep well.

Good morning !

One of the school that opened the middle of last week, is already closed....for a week anyway...it seems one of the kids tested positive for covid....IMO the child was probably already infected when school started.

They are not tested before school starts, Carol?
I am so glad most of our schools are not starting yet. There are some private schools trying now. But all of our public schools are not all the way up to universities.

No apparently they were not. I think we have a bunch of ___________ idiots in these 2 states....I get that home.schooling is hard..academically and mentally...but
to chance.your kids like this is unreal. Even my Triplet Grands..We were blessed that they are all alive, normal and reasonably intelligent. But to expose them to a school full of other children, at this time?? Foolish to my notion. My niece was going to keep her kids home but all parents were told it was their decision but if your child did not begin school when it opened they could not come back at all until the 21-22 school year began....All about money to my notion...

It is about something other than kids health, for sure. I do not understand the reasoning behind all of this. My prayers for Henry and the girls. How about your other Grandkids, Carol?

Junie I think it's the same here. Whatever is decided at the beginning of school will have to be continued until next school year. I think it's so people won't be sending them for a while, taking them out, sending them back and so on. It's hard enough to keep up with the craziness during a regular school year. You'd be surprised how much people move around and take their children from one school to another and then back again. Or how often parents send their children to live with a relative or boyfriend, or the bio dad, only to have them sent back to the mom, all with a change of schools. We had one set of parents who said every February when they went to Norway to visit relatives, that they had decided to homeschool. There kids were back in a month when vacation was over.

I think you're right too about the child being positive before coming to school. For whatever reason the parents weren't aware and the teacher probably sent the child to the school nurse and found there was a low grade temp. I can't even remember how many times children started school covered with chicken pox, impetigo, or ringworm, only to be sent to me and when I called a parent they acted totally surprised. I was in the office when a dad brought his little girl in the office and her face, neck, arms, every exposed area was covered with blisters some of which were draining. He said she'd been like that a while and it was getting better. She had impetigo and thankfully they got up late or she would have been on the bus for her first day of first grade.

As far as testing, I don't think people can be forced to comply. I hate to say it, but I think some people know but don't want to be found out. Does that sound mean?

Sheri, I think you are 100% right. Valarie has also said that last year...parents would give their kids medication so that they had no temp in the morning so when school started they would be fever free....then they would not begin to feel bad until around 2 or 3 in the afternoon...and sharing whatever they had in the mean time.... This year will be no different.

And. yes Tina, about much more than the kids health.

I sent Teddy off to school one morning. They called me because he was running a fever. I swore he wasn't when I put him on the bus. They believed me. That was a nasty flu that struck fast and hard all through his school.

Well sure Tina, that happens..I am sure it has happened to us all. Me included. And I personally knew of kids who acted well because they did not want to stay home...and so ended up at school sick...there are plenty of honest variations that can, did, and will happen.

But there are parents who look at school as a free babysitter, so they can go to their jobs..and while.I appreciate that one does.not always have the luxury of staying home when they need.to, I would like to think that there would be an alternate plan B in place. and that should not be sending a sick child to school

Climbing down from my soap box to say goodnight. Sleep Well.
