I use DE, diatomacious earth for ants. It does not harm people or pets. I put it in the back of my kitchen cabinets and pack it around where pipes come into my house. Around pet food that I leave out for feral cats. You can see ants walk across it to get to the food. But they stop soon and crawl away to die. I try not to use it out in the open outside because it is a danger to bees and other beneficial insects. But I have used it in traps for snails and slugs I have sprinkled it on the feral cats and rubbed it in around their necks for fleas and ticks. Many more uses that I can't think of right now.
