Hello,

I am new to this site. As a matter of fact this is the first forum of any kind I have joined. I am a novice gardener to say the least and am looking forward to chatting with folks and learning more about different subjects.

I do have a question I hope someone can answer for me. I was given a jade plant as a gift to our new house. I believe it is 5-7 years old. When we first got it we put it out in the sun on our porch. After about a week we noticed that many of the leaves developed dark brown patches on them. When we saw this we took it out of the direct sun and now have it where it gets mostly indirect sun. It is continuing to grow and sprout new leaves but many still have these brown patches on them. Being the newbie that I am, I'm wondering what I did wrong and what to do next.

Thanks for any suggestions...........

You are doing fine its common for jades to get a little sun burned. You will know its getting better the burnt leaves will fall and the new leaves will get red edges.Just be careful not to over water you can touch the leaves and if they feel soft then water it.

I just joined the site for a similar problem. I just bought a Jade plant again after being unsuccessful in the past with them. I have had it approximately a month, it is about 12 inches tall. I had been watering it every 2 weeks as the directions said, it is in bright but not direct light. It has begun losing 1-2 leaves a day. Am I under-watering???

No jade plant will loose leaves like any other plant.I just feel the leaves soft you need to water if its firm then its fine.
