I thought these were weeds ever since I moved here, and I found this amidst my rose of sharon. I went to cut it to see the flower and looky what I found! If I knew it was this beautiful, I would have never cut it! Normally I yank out whatever wild thing grows that looks like a weed, but for some reason I didn't want to yank this one out...thank God! Isn't it a beaut?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

Hi Wrennie! I think I've found out what it is...Epipactis helleborine, family orchidacea

It's supposed to be invasive...I wouldn't mind having a small patch!

Cool! If its invasive by roots you could put it somewhere that you mow around to keep it in check.

lol make sure you get to them before they set seeds and scatter lol

Lynne, you mean how I found the name out? I've always used ontariowildflowers.com and ontariowildflower.com when it comes to anything that is a wildflower (two very good site with good pictures, the only difference is the 's' after flowers in the url) you can search by petals, bloom colour, name, habitat, bloom time, etc...
