I was out taking pictures the other day and there were 2 yellow tiger swallowtails thorougly enjoying my coneflowers. They even posed for me graciously and allowed me to get some decent shots. It looks like the same butterfly but there really were 2 different ones!

Thanks Diane and Julianne!

Yes, Diane - they were all taken in about 10 minutes, but those butterflies are here alllllll the time! There was even a monarch on the butterfly bush, but it wouldn't hold still for more than a second, so I couldn't get a picture.

OHHHHHHHHHHH that's beautiful!! You should make calendar pages with those pics! (Well, I'm a scrapper, and I just think that way.. notme)

In your last pic, with the black butterfly--that looks like a big, blue spruce. We had some baby ones, but a hail storm killed them... boohoo...and we just now got the heart to try again.

Thanks again for the pics... clap

I have a harder time getting the pipevine swallowtail pics than the yellow tiger swallowtails, but they are both still all over the yard. They stay in one area alot too.the hex bed near deck with B&B salvia, orange torch tithonia, zinnias. They are in the hex star bed too on lady in red salvia, but more so in the other bed.I fineally caught a shot of pipevine on figs they are ALL in the fig tree.its a huge bug/insect party.
