Darling ! Can you hose around to help them cool off?
Could you toss some apple chunks? They love apples.
I feed and cool mine too. Cottontails love to shower in the rain-I like to help them by running the sprinklers.
Thanks for sharing !

Two Bean bags says, "Is she seeing anybody right now? I'm a 2 year old black male lop-ear who enjoys long hops in the cage and carrots by firelight."

Hey 2 bean bags ,

I'll ask her if she would like to hook up, although she is very young......she may need to get mom and dad's permission to date..... Maybe we could set up a "Bunny Hop" she liked "posing" for the pictures.

If I put apple slices out I guess I should tell her where they are so some other critters don't come along and scarf them up......I have been watering the garden to keep things green and they sem to enjoy it. The bunny is very young and doesn't seem to be too afraid .....yet. It would be nice if she stayed somewhat calm.....

I wonder if she has met our two chipmunk pals yet..... they have a tunnel under our shed.....I love critters......

Kratz, I love how you're enjoying the wildlife instead of asking how to get rid of them.
You don't need to wait to see her to put out apples, you could just leave them where you've seen her.
On the other hand, who knows what critter would wind up with the apples. My cottontails lined up for meals-it was such a delight. But of course they became habitualized.
One sure way to calm a cottontail is to talk alot. That's how I "trained" mine-I did learn to soften the "s" in words beginning with an "s" as it seemed to scare them. Probably sounded like hissing to them.
Thumbs up !

That sounds like a great idea.......to talk to them, they are so cute I could never hurt a cute little bunny or any other of God's critters. I just make sure there is plenty to share. They are used to being in the garden as my husband used to plant a vege garden in this spot every year.
He still enjoys gardening, but has move onto other hobbies like mountain biking, remote controlled airplanes and r/c truck. He will eventually do a garden again, but wanted to take a break. The bunnies and I will get along just great. I love cute little cottontails, best of both worlds....I can have bunnies but don't need to clean up any cages and they're free roaming....lol

Two Bean Bags roams freely around the house if he wants to. He tends to stay in the cage more than he stays out of it. He likes to hide under the bed and run out at us, or climb up on the shelf of my grandson's entertainment center and push out the VCR and all the tapes.

Hey Thorny,

Two Bean Bags is a gorgeous bunny ,I love his floppy ears. I think he would make a cute "girlfriend for my little bunny. He looks like he likes to have his picture taken.....lol What a smart bunny, I guess that's one way to get your attention.....with the competition of the t.v. ......
She's outside.....I'll ask her about her interest in web dating two bean bags today.....I think she would be a little wild for him though, he sounds like he's pretty tame. I wouldn't want her get too tame, as that could be dangerous for her....as we have other critters in her world that could possibly hurt her.
I do enjoy seeing the wildlife in my yard, with a huge developement going in behind us, soon the critters will be looking for a new place to live. We have plenty of room to share. It's sad to see all the creatures being displaced, hopefully when the dust settles, we will still have some critters.

I think my bunny would like some playmates....she has a brother, but I think they could both use some more friends.....the more the merrier..... bop

I was just watching them this morning, I didn't realize they liked to roll in the dirt too......

[img][/img]

It's amazing how close baby bunnies will let you get.....I think they are really trusting at this age....

Could you imagine if all of the bunnies "hooked Up" we'd have tons......

This little bunny is the friendliest little thing. She let's me get within feet of her, but if I move too quickly she takes off running...lol then i apoligize to her....

she was in my flower garden this morning......looking for all of those pretty flowers to snack on....but she does provide entertainment ;)

These are great ! I have two backyard cottontails now, both male. The older one has a torn ear (healed) and they come for apples.

That sounds really cute, I have her out in the yard and I visit the bunny while doing my yardwork......she is starting to be a little more wild than she was ....but that's a good thing, she needs to be a Wild Bunny....otherwise I'd have a pet......lol

She actually lets me get about 3' from her, but if I move too quickly she runs away....I'm glad for that though.....she should stay wild. I just have fun watching her.....We have chipmunks too, but they are hard to get photos of.....So I'll just appreciate bunny......lol [img][/img]
