A month or to ago someone was asking about purchasing water lilies. I had mentioned I had gotten some at Wal Mart about 3 years ago. I never did get a bloom out of them. Well, I finally have two blooms. WOW !!! I am so excited. I had gone to our local garden center & they suggested some fertilizer tablets. I put two into each water lily plant container. The containers are a plastic covers which the lilies came in. There is a door on the bottom so I opened it up & shoved the two tablets into the root area on each plant. I waited 30 days & did the same thing to each plant. Now to watch the flowers work their way up out of the water & open up & bloom. I store my water lilies in a 5 gallon pail in the basement sunroom & they winter over really well. I am in zone 4. I have been putting the lilies in a 24 inch deep container during the summer. I guess patience & fertilizing them paid off.

Congrats on getting your blooms! That's exciting! clap

I got one this year at Walmart and it's flowered once already! So pretty, and you can't beat $5 for a lily, especially when compared to some of the prices you see out there.
