So I've been looking for a deep purple single columbine. I saw a couple growing in the parking lot and they ended up getting weed wacked. So i kept the stems to try to save them. There is also one growing in with some hostas next to the sidewalk between the german deli and the liquor store here in town. I went down there last night, and lo and behold the seed pods were dry, and opened. Hmmmm, so I reached over and snatched them off, the seeds were still sitting inside the pods! Yay! I got some seeds for the dark purple ones. Yay. I win!

Cool, Wrennie. What other colors might you be needing?

I don't know. I like them all but am running out of shady areas. Guess I'll have to dig in a new shade bed. It's mainly I've been trying to snitch the ones from the back lot for 2 years now, with no success, and i finally got these pods, i left some there if another passer by wants some, from the front sidewalk. I have all white, a lighter all purple, double pink, pink. I like the combo colors too. I have one I got I dont know what color it is till spring. I used to have a blue and white and a red and white (different house) that I liked.

Steal away The purple seeds I snatched are a much deeper richer purple than the purple in my picture. Its way too late to try to get babies going this year isnt it? I already cant wait for next spring. Can we just skip the whole winter thing tho'?

Very pretty Wrennie! Did you get a bunch of seeds? I think I would try sowing some now, and letting the plants grow, so that next year they can bloom. I sowed some seeds I had gotten from Meg last year, just this past May. The plants are tiny babies, but they are healthy and growing. I'm hoping they come back after winter and bloom for me.

Yup those are the color i snatched from out in front of the liquor store. Maybe I'll do some now and save some to sow in spring in case they dont over winter well as babies.
