i know i could have gotten in serious trouble for this, but since it was last week i figure i am safe......... while up EARLY one morning which never happens, i heard a strange noise like a child yelling, long story short.....my dog was down in the woods licking a fawn! no mother around, so i scooped it up, not knowing what i was going to do with it, and brought it IN THE HOUSE! i figured something was wrong with it and the mom left it?????? there was no placenta around but it was recently born. there was a strange discharge on it's back end, i tried to clean it up, raced to the farm store and got some milk replacement stuff and a bottle. could'nt get her to eat, so after trying to comfort her, freaking out, worrying.....i put her back. she died within the hour. she is now buried with my other babies whom i have lost......i was so sad but hope i gave it some sort of comfort.

Ohhh Wendy Bless your heart for giving this baby tlc I'm glad you gave it precious moments of care. Possibley the mother knew something was wrong with it and abandoned it . Sounds like your dog even sensed somthing was wrong with it and was worried too. She is a beautiful little baby . Thanks for sharing your story ~tho sad , I applaude you for trying to rescue her!

Oh Wendy, how sad, but I honor you for rescuing her & trying to "mother" her. May she rest in peace with all the other fur babies in their special resting place.

Wendy. it was a very sad thing to happen, but you did something very remarkable. You were a good samaritan, you did your best, and gave of yourself without any reward. A very Christian thing to do. Thank you. for that I really admire you.

Oh Wendy, I wish I would have noticed this topic sooner!! What a wonderful, but so sad, story! She was so pretty!! She probably would have turned into a wonderful pet. I can just see your dog and her romping around the yard!! But I know that would have been a diservice to her if you had kept her too long, until she was grown, because then you couldn't have turned her loose in the woods to fend for herself. She would have died then! But it was such a sweet thing for you to do! I wouldn't have been able to just leaave her there either!!

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
