I would love to see pictures of others daylilies. Are the oldfashioned orange considered daylilies? Mine are just starting to bloom.

I took this picture last year of my cat hunter with the old fashioned orange in the foreground. This plant came with the house. I am really happy with its hardiness.
[Linked Image]

I ended up splitting off five plants from this clump and planted them along the front of the (dog) fencing, since I think its kind of ugly. It used to be an old driveway so the soil was packed gravel and sand. I dug five holes and filled with topsoil and the plants. I am so pleased as two of the five are actually sending out blooms this year. I really like tough plants.

Other daylilies, Stella D'Oro, some dark gold ones (didn't write down the name) egad that I am waiting to bloom, maroon that I split off and is happily blooming, lemon yellow,

Thanks Wrennie! I love them because they are cheerful, have good height and are varied in color. They are hard to kill, and easy to split and move around. I like dependable flowers.

Here's a dumb question.
Do daylilys bloom all summer or do they quit after a spell like a month or so??

Dodge the Stella D'Oro is a constant rebloomer which is why it is so popular. But just like other perennials most daylilies bloom at certain times ie Jun-July etc and that's it. That's why I try to find the early mid and late bloomers to I have a constant supply of them.

bop bop bop

Hooray..........hoorayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I found the USA..
Now I know what I am doing......Ha ha
Raising asiatic lilys......Would you believe, the first one given to me about 4 years ago , I said I don't like lilys......My sister nearly fell over..
I took it and raised it and look at me today.
The one she gave me was scented......In another bed.. These arent.

They do bloom for a long spell , and not all at the same time.. The pastels are gorgous, I think..
I have others in another bed , not in bloom.......

And the daylilys are probably more gorgous colors.

Thanks for the comments.

I only have one Asiatic lily, I'll be adding more though. Right now I am slowly adding daylilies.

Dodge, I can save you seeds from the cranberry lily if you would like. It is too small to divide yet.

Beautiful lilies you've all got there.

Do save me seeds .

I never did lily seed.. How do I operate with those? I will find some on mine for you .. If you want, or I have many others out there.

Lovely photos wrennie. What was that little white flower next to the pink daylilies? I like how unusually shaped it is.

All your lilies are soooo pretty!

Here is the first bloom on my daylily this year.
I should have divided it earlier in the season, but I was waiting for the pond gardens to be dug out - since Don is still working on the pond, that will still have to wait for a while...

This is the daylily I bought on Sunday, it seems very similar to yours Jiffymouse, it's called Pink Attraction:

[Linked Image]

I have been waiting impatiently for the blooming of this daylily! I bought it last year, forgot the name, but LOVED the brilliant golden color, it's my favorite. (shhh don't tell the other daylilies) [Linked Image]

Yours is pink, Jiffy's was Peach......But both are excellent.

Now the yellow one looks like the type I raise......Asiatic some one said.
What is that all around the yellow one, is it Yarrow? Yellow? I have pink.

Looks very becoming with the lily..........Congrads in order.

I have to run back to the nursery and try to match it with one there. It's a daylily, different foliage.

Here's a photo showing the leaves better.
[Linked Image]

Yes, there is yarrow growing next to it. It's a very light color yellow. I just hacked out about 2/3 of it as it was flopping and looking sloppy. It looked like someone sat their hiney on the plant an flattened most of the blooms. It seems to grow back anyway and bloom again. I like yarrow for its toughness, I hate when it flops though.
