Does anyone know why is so hard to find coneflower seeds at the regular retailers? I only find the whole plants (and are kind of pricey by the way). Does anyone here knows where i can find the seeds on sale? Thank you in advance.

My garden centers usually only have the seeds for the purple and white ones. Someone may have some to share.

There are quite a few coneflowers around my house that are presently on full bloom. I could get some seeds once the season ends, but i hope they are easy to germinate that way.

I started all my coneflowers from seed. And I am not very good at starting most things from seed, so I'd have to say they're pretty easy.

I bought pkg purple coneflower seeds--but I no longer have them. seems to me they either came from my local gardening center or Wal-mart. BUT I have purple coneflowers in my garden as we speak, and if you could wait, I am going to collect seeds this fall. AND I also have seeds from last year, that I am willing to share. let me know

Thank you Joclyn and Juniegirl, Joclyn i dont have much to trade really, so i can send you a sase unless you are interested in some cilantro seeds, sweet peas, or cosmos; had some zinnias but already offered them to someone. PM me either way. Juniegirl do you by any chance have any white cornflower either in your garden now or in seeds. I can wait until end of season. thanks again!

dulcimie, I believe the plants started from seed don't bloom the first yr. If you'd like I could send a plant,(a small one) depending on where you live. I have plenty of purple and a few white. I almost bought a sunrise today at the farmers market, but decided on a red mandevilla. Diane

oh, those are pretty!!
the coneflowers don't bloom the first year when grown from seed (neither do black-eyed susans and i don't think daisy does either). after the first year with no blooms, they bloom every year after.
let me know if you still need coneflower seeds!
