What a gorgeous garden! It is so expansive! What a lot of hard work you have put into it, it really shows, everything is so lush and vibrant. Good show!
Thank you for sharing!

Absolutely beautiful! Will you be having us over for tea, perhaps? I'd love a stroll through the garden. How old is your garden? Mine's 2, in it's infancy, but I hope it grows up to look very much like yours, so full and lush!

The oldest part of the garden is 6 years old, some parts are only 2 years old. It's still a work in progress, so it's constantly changing. Next spring I plan on digging up everything in the 4 rectangle beds in back and raising them up with compost then replanting. The soil in that area just isn't very good.

I took the liberty to view you whole album. You gardens are beautiful. I know it must have taken years and years to establish so much. We have just moved to new house with 2 acre yard. There was nothing there when we moved so I am starting from scratch. Any recommendations?

Ammend the soil with compost!! I didn't know much about gardening when I started and I had really bad soil, so consequently many plants either died or did badly. I have spent the last several years digging up many plants and ammending the soil. So if you start with good soil you'll not only save yourself a lot of time, but your plants will thank you for it.

A few garden photos? :)) More than a few, I'd say! You have a great looking garden, Alankhart!

Here's a question: Some of those plants are humongous, and I wondered how you keep them from flopping over or splitting in the middle and all flopping out? I have severe trouble with that and end up digging up half the plant and tossing it out of sheer frustration.

Here's an offer: This mum is gorgeous...if you want to do some mum trading, please let me know!

Alan--that's beautiful!! You should sell tickets. You know what I'm most jealous of? The Japanese maples. I've managed to fry 2 of them--they just can't take west Texas heat. Even when I keep them in the shade, the heat gets them. Kudos!!

Yeah, the maples are expensive...a one gallon pot w/ a 2 foot tree cost $45. Another reason to get mad when they die!!

I have 7 Japanese maples. They were all rather small when I purchased them, the most expensive was about $150, but most were under $100. They all got zapped really hard by our 5 day late freeze, and although they all made it, they don't look nearly as nice as they usually look.

Partygirl: Not sure which plants you are referring to, but I do have to stake many of them to keep them from flopping or falling over. I have found that with some of them I can cut them back by about 1/2 and they will stay more compact but bloom a little later. Another trick is to plant other plants closely around it to help hold it up. The only problem is when one outgrows it's area and has to be divided or moved.
