I am having problems with leaves on my Kong rose Coleus, I think due to "critters". I noticed late last night that there was a small green bug on one leaf. I haven't decided if it was just a night time bug or a pest to my Coleus.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what it is and how to treat it?

Coleus are fairly prolific growers and respond well to pruning. I wouldn't worry too much if a few leaves are getting attacked, just remove affected leaves and tip the plants regularly to get them to bush up. If you do find the culprit, possibly a grasshopper, then remove them by hand.

The secret is the soil.

I caught one of the bugs by using a piece of shipping tape. I took the bug to my grandmother who said it was an aphid.

When I find aphids, I use an insecticidal soap spray and it kills them.

Thank you! My grandmother told me the same thing. Maybe she isn't losing her mind after all, LOL!!
