I had bought two perennial Black Eyed Susans at Wal Mart quite some time ago.. They aren't actually BES, they are some variety of Daisy it said on the tag, I just don't remember what kind.. but it LOOKS just like the Black Eyed Susan.. anyway, I had them in pots, for too long, waiting to plant them.. and one of them missed getting watered somehow.. for a few days I think. why Poor thing.. I got it in the ground, and it looked like it had some new growth starting, so I kept it watered really well and have been watching it.. I removed all the dead flowers, stems and all that HAD been blooming on it.. hoping that would help. Well, it doesn't seem to be doing much. My question is.. will this come back next year and be fine or have I killed it altogether? tears And might it even come back this year.?? Do I need to do something special for it? Thanks!!!

When I do that (and I have often), I give it every chance to recover. I wait a long time for any signs of life. If, after a few weeks, it comes out of the ground easily with a gentle tug, I know it's dead. The roots haven't grown and taken hold.

I have the vine , for 2 years now.. I had to start it from seeds each time.. collect the seeds when it blooms.
Mine is in a hanging basket and is bloomin great..yes they love to be watered.

Don't know if you killed it or not.

Hmm.. I think the greenhouse up the road had the Black Eyed Susan vine.. are your petals more yellow than gold? I think those were.. but I am sure they are all sold by now.. she only had a few left when I was there.. and that has been a while ago..

I checked on it again tonight.. and there IS a little bit of green down at the bottom.. but it feels dry and brittle.. but I keep watering it.. everyday. *sigh* I do hope it makes it.. if not, I suppose I will be collecting seeds from the other one.. that made it.

I am certain it is the same thing that this greenhouse had. I wish I would have got some earlier this year now.

I have given it a dose of miracle gro once.. I will try again in a week.

I have different black eyed susan perennials, some comeback in the same spot, some seem to be biennial as well. I don't know the names of them though.

If you see green growth, you should be good.

Browneyed daisy plant is different than the vine.. I have both. The Plants come back from roots..Vine isn't hardy ..But it is so smooth looking, it looks like it is painted on ......

love them both..I started mine indoors and they are blooming like heck in a hanging basket...
Last year they were slow planted in the earth........I miracle gro mine.

b

Both beautiful.
