I was on the computer and happen to look out my window and couldn't believe my eye!!! shock Water was raising to window level from the front porch which meant it was atleast 12" high!! We've had soo much rain the ground just doesn't take it in anymore! uhuhh I ran to the garage grabbed what I could use to dig a quick run off and went to work!! I didn't want to take the time to take pictures at that point I just wanted the water off the porch somehow!!!

These picture are after i got it to run off .. First I changed the direction of the gutter run off Yep I had to run it into the flower beds that were already saturated, but they can easliy be replaced, ( Better to replace flowers than floors and walls in the house!)
Then I moved some landscaping stones so that water would have somewhere to go!

Then I dug 2 thrench to run off into the yard Geeeeeez I'm glad I was home and noticed it!!!!

See in this pic the cherub sitting on the ball? The water was covering the ball! My window isn't far from there!

flower bed I directed the water and moved stones so the water would flow out

In the next post you can see the depth of the two stones which is about 4 inches below the window! the water was that high!

The Water was as high as these stones and the window was only 4 inches or so above that!

They have begun to evacuate along the Braza River and there have been at least 4 children die from all this rain as well as older people. Cars floating., Houses being destroyed, many many people are getting displaced. We haven't had a spring like this in years.

Today before I went to work I told Dwight to put Emmy in her crate and put her crate on the dinning room table when he goes to work, just in case, He looked at me like I was crazy!!! He said he got two blocks from the house and turned around and went back and did what I asked him to do!!! Welllll you can never be too careful!!!! My back yard is like a pond, and is at least 15" deep in two areas.. Most of the Brugs have turned yellow and dropped leaves But like I said before I'd rather save my house and Emmy first before plants and flowers!
There is a town not far from here that have suction pumps going 24 hr a day but it isn't enough that whole town has to evacuate,, Geeeeezzzzzzzz
if it's not tornados it flooding if it not either of those it hot as H*ll!!
But I still Love Texas!! touched notme

OMG Diane. I'm sorry you are having to deal with the flood there. Wow, it is a good thing you were home, saw what was happening, and quick on your feet to divert water. You are so right, it's better to replace flowers then have water in your home. Glad Dwight listened to you about Emmie. Sounds like you have it all under control at this point.

Thanks Stephanie!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the seedling from the snapdragons you sent me they were in front of the roses where I had to direct the water flow!. It's under control for now BUt I think it would be wise for me to seperate more of the landscaping stones so more of the water would flow out faster.

OH my goodness, Diane! I, too, am glad you were home, and able to get outside to dig and redirect that water. I'd say you've had MORE than your share of rain - sending you bright sunshiney days from now on!

(we are currently about to have a big storm - it got VERY dark VERY quickly, and windy too. I can hear the thunder in the distance like all afternoon, but I do think the rain will materialize this time. I just hope it stops before I have to go out at 10 to pick up Amy and her friend!)

Good pictures Diane. And great descriptive powers. I'm also glad you were home to take care of it all.
I'm a little jealous of all your rain. Mother Nature could spread the bounty around a little thinner.

Diane, I like the "God's wink" thing. We've been watching the flooding on TV. I'm also glad you were home.

We've gotten more than our share of rain this year, too, but it hasn't been THAT bad. We've gotten 21 inches so far, and our ANNUAL rainfall is 19 inches.

I hear what you're saying about tornadoes and heat! Just for grins, I'll try to attach a pic.

Thanks Cindy Some of North Texas is worse than other areas. It really made me mad when I saw on the news a family had left their house that was flooded but they left their dog tied to a rope and it was treading water, you could barley see the top of the dog house, I hope who ever was flying the helicopter to film that area called in a rescue for the dog!! They did rescue several horses and other farm animals , But the film of that dog has burned an image in my brain,,
