No, really thats the name! I got a couple Mr Stripey tomatoes. It says their an heirloom, but I never heard of them before. Has anyone grown them? They're yellow with red stripes. I like yellow maters better than red in my salad.
Some day I want to try the purple ones.

There are apparently two "Mr. Stripeys." One is a hybrid and one is an OP. You probably have the OP version, which would be an heirloom.

As for the purples/blacks, I hear "Cherokee Purple" is really good.

I had a 4 pack of Mr Stripey's early this season, but didn't have any luck with them, they all died. Had more to do with my inexperience growing than the plants though I'm sure.

Once I feel more confident in my growing skills, I hope to try some of the more colorful varieties out there.

Someone last year had some of the purple ones. I think he(she?) said the cherokee was yummy. Cant remember who it was though.

Hey Wrennie, do you mind saving seed from the Mr. Stripey's. I sure wouldn't mind getting some from you when you have some for next years garden. I've heard they are awesome. Please keep us updated on how they turn out. I myself am trying out quite a few purples this year. Will save seed and probably be sending those in during the fall fling exchg.

Sure. Want to trade some purples for some stripeys? I dont do the fling cause I kill most seeds. Tomatoes I do OK with though.

That works for me. I will let you know as soon as I get tomatoes first, then I can save the seeds.

In regads,(I'm Bostonian tonite)...lol, to Mr.Stripey: the heirloom which is the variety I am cultivating has potential to be the size of a large yellow softball. "bout 4-5" in diameter. It also has more yellow and orange hues than red...(pictures to soon follow).
The other is 'bout 1.5 to 2 inch in dia.
