i bought 2 bleeding heart (the bulb kind)about 1 1/2 months ago. They are thriving right now, about 8in high, but should i be expecting blooms this year or next year?

I'm not sure where you live, but with bleeding hearts they die back soon for the year in hot climates. I just bought a second one this year, a pink one and it only put a few flowers out....just a couple, next year it will be a lot better! thumbup

If yours die back be sure to remember where they are planted so you don't disrupt it if digging around that area!

Mine usually die totally back to the ground by mid/end of July if not sooner....

I think you'll be pleased with them next year more than this year! They are so pretty. thumbup

I bought my bleeding heart last year and it had just a few blooms.
This is what it looks like this year.

It has a lot more blooms since I took the picture a few weeks ago.

That is gorgeous rosepetal!! I LOVE it.. Now I want one.. I need more shade though. :( Darn it!! boohoo

Will the blooms last longer if you water it more?? Keep it mulched good.. so the roots are cooler?? Just a thought.. why

Also, I LOVE the gravel around it!! Really makes it stand out and make a statement! Is that just limestone gravel??

Thanks Pinkhorseofcourse....I'm not sure about mulch, and helping it stay cooler. My bleeding heart gets about 3-4 hours of sun, maybe even less. It started blooming and hasn't stopped yet, it's completely filled with blooms now.

Yes that's limestone gravel.
