Well those front containers are overflowing with plants lol. So today my solution was to take a hand full of mums and make 16 cuttings that I just finished applying root stimulator to and planting. I think this is better done in the fall but I could waste the cuttings. But the plant had gotten so large it was overrunning the oregano and the sage. So I took a handful of it out of there. You can barely tell that anything is missing and I'm sure in a day or two the plants will fill in the space and there won't be any empty space between them. If I get the same 1/4 propogation that I got last year that means I'll get 4 plants out of this. And that is really plenty. Especially if it's ofspring grow like the parent. It is huge.

These are the fully double round variety I don't know the name. They are a deep burgandy color and I just love them. My yellow and white didn't make it. I hope to see some cream colored ones this fall. If I do when I have money I'll probably snatch one. The other color I have is a bronze. It's not nearly as big as the burgandy. I have it in the back garden and I am tempted to have the two plants trade places and see if the copper colored one will take off as well.

Oh I should probably mention that I also got a small division off of it and that I planted in the back garden. So I have the bronze at one end of the sun bed and a burgandy one at the other end.

I have had no luck with the seeds I planted either. I guess it is easier to divide these. If you remind me this fall I'll divide some and send them to you bareroot if you want me too. Just for the postage. Although now I think of it, it will probably be cheaper to buy them up there at the end of the season than it would cost for the postage. But if you don't find any let me know and well do the bareroot as a backup plan.

I've rooted my mums at this time of year.I also don't always use rooting hormone on them.I propagate my yellow mums. They have a home in almost every bed...even neighbors yards.I made a propagation box in shade for them.is 2x4s fixed in a square& compost is mixed with the soil.I just make a hole for the cuttings makeing sure I root the woody part& remove most the leaves. They are finishing up their blooms now and I'll cut back and root again. My others don't do as well*(burgandy pom style with orangeish edges,a burgandy daisy type, liliac daisy type.MIA)& lost my white.Advantage to living so far south in a mild climate?blooms in spring AND fall.
I will age ungracefully until I become an old woman in a small garden..doing whatever the Hell I want!

i'm sorry to hear you lost your white ones. I had white daisy type and a yellow that I lost last year. I probably wouldn't have if I had been willing to divide them. but I am so chicken when it comes to doing things like that.
