Here is a picture I took this evening of the new blooms on our four-year-old mimosa tree. EVENING BEAUTY

That is so beautiful! I have been coveting all the mimosa trees around here for a long time, just never get around to actually getting one!
Perhaps this will be the year lol!

They are EVERYWHERE here in Nashville, TN. I have four in my yard. They grow three to four feet a year! This tree is four years old and is close to 15-20 feet tall. It had blooms for the first time last year. We didn't plant ANY of our Mimosas; they just sprout from seeds the birds drop. LITERALLY every house in the neighborhood has AT LEAST One Mimosa in the yard, and I have four. The other omnipresent trees around Nashville are Crepe Myrtles, Bradford Pears, and Redbuds. I have at least one of each of those in my yard, too.

Not so lucky they are invasive. they are quickly replacing the maple and evergreens that are native to the southern united states. Hey Thorny, I'm glad you are happy with them. I have them invading all around my garden. The ones in my garden that I got while they were small I drilled holes in and poured in table salt. They didn't sprout this year so I'm going to assume that works on the babies. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the tall ones.

I remember you offered to send me some, tk, but we have plenty here in Nashville, too. The freeze this April ALMOST killed all of my Mimosas but they have recoverd nicely and are now sending out LATERAL rather than vertical growth. They can sure hide a MULTITUDE of sins in your shrubbery plots, (Poke plants, junk vines, etc.)
