my male bluegrosneck stayed on the finch feeder today when i was out on the deck---(only about 15 ft away)-he was smart 'cause i had scared away all of the sparrows & so he stayed, & got to eat---

i guess there is no way to discourge the sparrows??

I think you mean grosbeak?
House Sparrows are gluttons for anything to eat. Are those the ones you mean?

yes---wrennie--Grosbeak--I wonder where I got-neck- at???

and yes it must be house sparrows---the good news it is not all sparrows--i am thinking there are a few others---perhpas a female or 2 of the grosbeak and a tan bird or 2--and then there is a house finch-(a pair?) and 1 or 2 goldfinches.

if it were not for the "few" i think I would take down my finch feeder.

The DH figured what we were spending on feeding the sparrows & he was not pleased.
