I'm so excited the blackberry lilies in the front containers have buds. I planted them last year and just had the foliage this year I'll finally see the blooms and I can wait. The ones in back haven't put up stocks yet but I'm sure that's because I replaced about 25% of the soil in the containers with compost this spring which the area where they are in the back didn't get any at all. It's on the slope and I just wasn't up to climbing up there and trying to level it so I could amend it without it all falling down on me lol.

I have some of them too. Pretttttty! Small flowers though considering the size of the foliage.

I really think there are two different plants that are called blackberry lillies. Are yours the orange ones? I'm thinking from the size of the buds that these are going to be some good sized flowers. Of course it could suprise me. Plants often do. And yet a couple of years ago I had some with the same kind of foliage but small white flowers. What kind are yours?

interesting, maybe I am miscalling the plant I have. I planted it last year and it only had foliage. The leaves are like Gladiolus leaves and make the same fan pattern but shorter than the glads. This year they have bloomed as of today because I just looked out the window and I can see one orange bloom. I'll go down and look at it close up in just a minute. It looks from a distance to be a lilly like flower.
