I have some curled kale from a trade I made at some time in the past. Unfortunately I don't know if it is ornamental or food quality lol. Me and my lousy record keeping.
Anyway I was wondering if I could go ahead and start it indoors now for planting in the fall and if so is it possible to have it in a north facing window? Or does it need more light than that?

Isn't all kale curly? I buy it for a soup and it always seems extremely curly. I love kale boiled up! So good. I have no idea about starting it in a window. It would seem to me that if you have a/c that it would do fine in a window, but I'm no expert!
