If anyones interested click right here. Then select the 2 routes.....capitol limited and empire builder.
We'll be leaving on the Capitol Limited out of Cumberland MD on June 26th at 7 something in the evening....then our next route is the Empire Builder, leaving Chicago on the 27th around 2 something in the afternoon. I SHOULD be at Bills on the 29th around 9am(I think)....
The schedules for the Capitol Limited and Empire Builder are right here.
They aren't showing up for me right this second, but you'll be able to get an idea of where I'm passing thru on what days.....It was showing up fine for me earlier.
You can also search the site by putting in "virtual tours" and you can see what a "roomette" looks like.....plus there are sample menus on the website too!
We'll be going thru Glacier National Park, and past the Mississippi with it paddle boats......I'm sure I'll have a gazillion scenic pics just from the train.
I know, I wish you could've went with me....we would've caused all kinds of trouble! If this is a good trip I might take future trips....I can get to my brothers in MI on Amtrak.
My dad is SO jealous....He rides trains everywhere in England, he's a train pro!
He said he would've went with me in a heartbeat if they weren't going to England this year. He gets a Sr discount, so I might be able to talk him into a future trip with us.
The prices aren't TOO bad if you book early and don't go too awful far.
To get to Cindy's I'd have to go clear up to Chicago then back down to KY....How much sense does that make?

None! I looked for Shirley to come to summer camp and the website said to call an agent because the route was too complex! A bus would make more sense for those trips.
I just went and counted! You are going to travel through 12 tates! That is so cool. Take a notebook or something so you can kep track of which states are what pictures. I always think I'll remember then so much goe on & I forget. And get another photo card! Or download them when you get to Bills and start over. I know you have lots of room on those thing but 12 states! I'd have them full. "ooh a cow" "Ooh a hill" "ooh another cow in a different state" "ooh {you get the idea}
I don't know if we're going to the ocean, that would be cool to say I've been from one coast to another.
Got a notebook!!! It's one that is special to me because Diane sent it to me a while back....I was going to use it for seed info but I never did, I knew that I'd have a pefect use for it one day!
I liked the sig line too, I looked for a perfect rail one forever the other night.
And trust me, I will have so many pictures that people will be sick of looking at them!
Laura hope you have a great trip. I rather ride a train instead of airplane. When I was a little girl my dad worked for the railroad station and we got to take several trips since he got a discount....I miss those days. Have a good trip and enjoy
Ignore the trip there, don't even think about it happening, just think of the minute you arrive at Bills and concentrate on hanging out at Cedar Hill, watching Cindy fall into some pond or another, Jiffy having a 9oz 'drop' of wine... the fun night on the 5th at the roadhouse, Shadow sitting at the head of the table with a napkin tied around his neck eating a big juicy steak. Got those pics in your head? Good. Concentrate on them, not the trip.
Well I'm hitting the hay now, getting ready for the big day tomorrow! Don't forget it you click the schedule link on the first page you can then click Capitol Limited and see where I'm at....then we get to Chicago and it's the Empire Builder.
Will be calling Cindy on Thursday.
Will try to pop in and out tomorrow between hair pulling out sessions.
I can't wait to see how Loz's trip is going! If we can work it out anyway I might head up to Minneapolis and see her tonight. They are supposed to be there for 45 minutes to wash and fuel the train! The only problem is that she isn't there until 10:30 pm! But, I just might make it up there!
