I have an umbrella tree, very small, that has been extremely difficult to take care of. I moved it to my kitchen window and it suddently began to sprotut new growth and look much greener. Now, some of the leaves are beginning to turn yellow and a few have dropped off. Anyone have advice for me? Thank You!

How much are you watering it? Houseplants #1 death is due to overwatering, that's why I ask.

Honestly, I water it very little. I wait until the soil is bone dry first. Proably evert 10 days.

I know they can get spider mites pretty easy, and scale too....

Yellow leaves can mean a nitrogen or iron deficiency--do you feed your plant?

What to Do: In the order listed above, adjust your plants environment. Hold off adding any additional fertilizer until the problem is resolved. Watch carefully to see how your plant responds.

Symptom: Leaf Drop

Possible cause: Too much sun or fertilizer. Too much or too little water. Exposure to cold or draft.

What to Do: Follow the proper procedure for watering your houseplants. Hold off adding fertilizer for three to four weeks. If you have your plant in a sunny window, move it to a location with less light. Check the temperature of where you have your plant.
