This is my first year planting spinach. When do you pick the leaves? Some of mine are about two inches wide. Will the leaves keep growing? Thanks!

Thanks- I picked them this morning, and we had them tonight for dinner. They were good. (Of course knowing the time and hard work I put into it helped!) :)

I normally pull mine but you can just cut it off and it shoulc grow back. But spinach likes cold weather, so it will probably bolt if not picked. I pulled all of mine a few weeks ago, blanched and froze 5 quarts.

Fresh is better, I like to cook mine with some bacon grease in it.UUUMMMM UUUMMMM good!!!

Amigatec: Try cutting up a hard boiled egg and add some of that bacon, that you fried to get the grease, crumbled up on your spinach before you add the bacon grease--especially good!!!

There is also a way to add vinegar to the bacon grease while still in the skillet, (fire off) quick put on a lid when the splattering sounds die down, put on the above items --add a sprinkle of sugar and stir all well--works good on Chicory too!!!

Mmmmmm...sounds good. My spinach is still doing well after 3 cuts. Not sure how much longer we'll be eating it.
