My sister just hosted a lovely family reunion and I would like to buy some Stella's for her garden so she'll always remember this time together....but
she lives in zone 6a (I think) and I'm uncertain whether or not she should be planting right now.

The Stella's I've found are bareroot. Would it be better to send her plants? Can she plant them now?

Thanks for your time.

Daylillies are so hardy they can be moved anytime. They may not bloom this year putting them out so late but who knows - maybe they will. I've dug some up and left them laying in the yard for months before replanting and they always do great.

Hello: I'am also in zone 6b and I planted my Stella's three years ago
in June and they are doing great. I did plant "plants" and not bare
roots. I prefere the plants over bare root because I fell they will
establish faster, If planting bare root it should be done in early
spring so the plant has a chance to set roots and grow some before
winter sets in. This is from my experence though.

Sometimes I wake up grouchy, other days I just let her sleep, while I'am outside in the garden she is
counting sheep. (%$#@%*#&@) sorry honey,I didn't

Stella is a pretty weed. I dig it up and plant it all over my gardens any time of the year and it does great. I planted as just a root when I received it from a online site 5 years ago in July and it has grown great.

Do what you can where you are with what you have.

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
