Some of you have asked to see an update on the birdcage planter,, When I posted a few months ago I had planted yellow and pink Calibrachoa; however since then they haven't done soo well But there are a few of them hanging in there,, The bacopa has done excellent and is twice as long as before,,
The other day I planted Intensia Star Brite Phlox hybird and blue daze both are heat tolerant as our Texas Summer has begun!!
This was before....
This is now...

Thanks Loz!! First time I've tried the blue daze evolvulus I really like the blue!! I put some of it in another pot too in a diffent area so I will be compareing the growth! Unfortunatley it won't come back next spring in my zone even in our mild winters it's still an annual here~ but the star brite should bloom well into the fall!!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
It's still doing good Penny Thanks for asking !! The original yellow flowers I had in it are making a comeback and I'm seeing more blooms of them too!!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Okay I don't understand it but I'm not going to complain (much ) The starbrite phlox has disappeared and the calibrachoa is back full force Crazy huh???
Ohh Well as long as I see flowers ~I don't care which it is!!
They are reallly bushing out and blooming too!!!!
The blue daze is hanging in there, on the other side of the cage is a lot of blue blooms!

looks awsome diane!, wonder were your phlox went??? i think your yellow flowers kicked em out! lol still looks ever sooooooooooo beauitful!
I have no idea Christy I was discussing this with a friend yesterday And she thinks maybe because we've had soo much rain day after day after day that they may have rotten?? Because they were heat/ drought phlox??? Now you watch when all this rain stops and it's hot as heck here a few may show up That would be toooo funny!!!

Scanning through topics I found this!!! I remember your birdcage from before! Every picture you have shown here is simply beautiful, no matter what kind or color of flower!!!
I've copied this whole topic (for the pics!!) and put it in my Forum Creativity File!!!!
Awwww Thanks Shirley and Sheri  Today I Bought another Bird cage half the size of the first one and just sat a small potted vinca in it, With it being much smaller is was more difficult to pull the vinca leaves and blooms thru, the narrower places, Unfortunately I snapped some blooms off, but I'll get a picture on here soon.

Diane - that is sooooo nice! And the vinca looks PERFECT in it! And I must say... your vinca with missing leaves and flowers STILL looks fuller than mine! Terrific!
Thanks Loz and Lynne. Seems I kinda like to make birdcage planters,, Dwight asked me if I was starting to collect them,, I said,, " I like anything I can put a plant in that's on sale for 2.50 "
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Wow, I would of bought every one that they had, very pretty.
I would have bought more Tamara But they only had the one and it was in a out of place part of the store as if someone was going to buy it and changed their mind and just sat it down,, I was at the right place at the right time,, I kept my eyes open for another one as I walked the store too!
Yeah Christy I'm thinking I may look in other stores for end of season sale on bird cages for planter!!

Diane that one is pretty too!!! That plant is pulled through there just perfect!!! Your stuff always looks like something out of Home and Garden magazine.
I'd bet you could write a small caption about your birdcages, and include those pictures, and send it in to that type magazine, and get published!!!! I'm not joking..I'm serious!!!
OMG! I was just checking out some of the topics here and so glad I did. Your birdcage planters are VERY pretty, Diane! I've been eyeing them in the stores~~should I or shouldn't I, that was the question. Your pics have made up my mind! So beautiful and what a nice way to decorate with the season.

Glad you were inspired!!!
Sheri I will update soon cuz the sun fried one! 105 and 112 heat index yesterday and today and the rest of the week ! It fried the colorful bloonms in the large cage but the smaller one is hanging in there and doing okay in the heat!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
Okay Sheri here's what I did with the big planter. Some of the bacopa was salvageable, so I cut off all the fried bacopa so atleast I still have opposite sides of cage pieces of bocopa "still hanging in there".
The flowers in the middle were fried to the root, so I pulled some vinca(It can take this heat here ) out of the front yard and put it in the middle, then cut off the fried Blue daze and Still have some good, then added compost and watered in superthrive! The Vinca should last thru the fall even if nothing else does.
The first Picture is the redone cage ONCE again! ( next year I'll just do Vinca! and to answer Christy Question you can see ( barely) the other cage in the tree in the back ground ,, Can Ya see it? ( It kinda blends in with the fence ) Any way that's how far apart they are.
The smaller cage is doing good with the Vinca! I'm now wondering if it makes a difference have it in a pot Vs using coconut fiber liner??? And I do believe I bought plants early in the spring that don't tolerate sudden blast of Heat! ( even tho the nursey said they did )

Boy. I need to show you what fried looks like because your yard isn't. The only thing green around here is me because I'm green with envy. That's a great idea. I'll bet those bird cages would sell.
