how big will it grow. I started it in a med size
flower pot.

Thanks

Mine would get about 30 inches tall but that's because I pruned them often to harvest the leaves.

I just planted some basil as well. Should I be harvesting from the top or the bottom? It's just a baby - about 6-8 leaves so far.

I usually pinch the end of branches to get it as bushy as possible when it is small. And then I start harvesting once it gets about 10 inches tall. I usually start mine in the fall inside the house and then come spring when it is time to put them outside they are good sized plants. As far as harvesting. I harvest the larger leaves equally from all over the plant. I probably never take more than 10 to 20 percent of the plant at any one time.

For a bushy shape basil can be harvested by pinching out the upper part of stems. Keep 3 to 4 sets of leaves on the lower part of the stem.

If the plant is becoming to bushy or you want a taller, narrow shape then remove stems from around the sides.

Leaves can be harvested once plants double in size.

Keep a few sprigs of basil in a glass of water in your kitchen. Keep it out of direct sunlight.
