Many years ago I was staying in a small village, Middle Wallop in Wiltshire. One morning I went to buy postage stamps at the local post office. I was too early and so sat down on a (faux) toadstool to wait and to admire the beautiful garden. At the appointed time the postmaster appeared and said he mistook me for a gnome (not that I look like one; he was being whimsical). This is one of the happy memories I have of my many trips to the English countryside from which I gained my love of flower gardens.

Hello Penny - Maybe you can help me since you have posted photos. How do I do that? I frequently email photos to friends and family, but I can't seem to see an attachment icon on the outgoing mail. Any hints?

You have to have an account with photobucket or something similar. Once you get your pics uploaded into there you can copy the img line and then paste it into your post here! Hope that makes sense!

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome. I wish I could figure out how to post photos, but I'm still working on it. I have lovely roses, peonies, scotch broom, lots of annuals (petunias, pansys, new guinea impatiens) as well as a beautiful and useful herb garden.

Ruthcameron,

To post photos , you must first upload them to Photobucket.com
After you do that , at the bottom of the photo click on the last line, and left mouse button and click copy.

Come back here and click on Paste and you have it .
