Hi ;)

My hamster just gave birth a few hours ago. However, the mommy seems clueless, and I think it's because she's a first time mother. She sits with the babies for a few minutes, then she leaves them and starts digging here and there before she falls asleep - away from the babies. I'm kinda worried... badday She's a Dwarf Hamster, by the way. The room in which the cage is, is quiet with minimal disturbance. What should I do?

Oh weezie would know, she has hamsters! But I think she is gone for a bit! So I would check with a pet store too, just like Penny said. Hope your hamster babies are ok!

Hi ;)

Thanks for the advice.. kissie I did some research and basically it says just try not to disturb the mommy - she'll settle down sooner or later. And I guess they were right. She's settling down okay now - more calm and collected. thumbup Gosh, the wee ones are sooo tinyyy!

I have never seen baby hamsters, I bet they are cute! How small are they, like a pencil eraser or something?

Cuteness is in the eye of the beholder.. grin Hehe.. Yea, but I think many people would say that they are adorable. Some, may go "Eewww..". Personally, I think they're very cute, just like any other babies. ;)

I don't happen to have a photo of them currently. But here's a good comparison of how small baby hamsters are:
