At least for me it is. Today I planted 2 each of 11 different varieties of sunflowers. Which ones you ask? I'm so glad you did lol:
Black Oil Sunflower Vanilla Ice Sunflower Autumn Beauty Sunflower Bushy Sunflower Maximillion Sunflower Yellow Sunflower Terra Cotta Sunflower Change Mexican Sunflower Lemonade Mix Sunflower Bronze Sunflower Red Sunflower
Now you ask, "Tammy, with your little garden where do you plan to put all of these." The answer is I hope that some of the ladies from church will take some. Becuase your right I don't have room for them all. But I did want to see what they all looked like in person. So to speak.

Wow! That's a lot of sunflowers! You must have a lot of room. Next time you might try a couple of my favorites: Gloriosa Polyhead and Tigers Eye.

my favorites are of course the shorter fuller varieties. So we'll see how it turns out. I have room for about 11 of them. One every two feet at the back of the boarder so to speak. That's assuming that they are really drought tolerant because it's hard to get up there to water.
Are those two kinds in your photobucket account? Or is there somewhere I can view them?

Those are some nice varieties. I was looking for something called a teddybear sunflower? Or something like that. It is bushy and short. I think MaryR had them back sometime ago.

Wow, that's quite a selection. I planted Lemon Queen sunflowers this year, I am starting them in pots and will transplant later. I paid $2 for a pack of seeds and there was only 6 seeds in it. I was not impressed. Each year I plant a different variety.

i planted in pots too. Even though I read that they don't like to be transplanted. Unfortunately I didn't mark which pot got which kind of sunflower. Usually the birds get to the seeds long before I do so there aren't any for harvest. I'm sorry to disappoint.

I've had no problems transplanting mine. I use larger pots and only one seed in it by itself. I also only start my seeds 3 weeks before the last frost.

I started mine early last year too. I was suprised how fast they grow. which is why I waited to start them this year. I'd like them to be around during the summer.

Woohoo about a third of them sprouted today. I wouldn't be suprised if the rest are up by tomorrow. I guess I better get a move on and weed that flower bed I want to stick them in.

Well the upper hill was looking a little barren and I don't have any seeds for the blue jays so I thought this way I could multi-task alittle. I had a blue jay up on the telephone line looking in on me the other day as if to say, "you feed the sparrows why not me." So this is my answer lol. The sweet banana peppers I started awhile ago aren't large enough to be transplanted yet but soon.
