Hi new to this wonderful site. I am so used to gardening outdoors but due to a disability,I no longer own property and only have indirect sunlight and just getting used to house plants. I was given a jade plant nearly dead but I resuscitated it but it is spindly. Is there anything I can do to make it branch out? It is beautiful and I know it wants to be so much more. Also I know of a Christmas cactus but someone told me to try and find a spring cactus, does such a creature exsit?

About this time of year my jade goes crazy branching. The new branch will push a leaf out of its way as it comes in. But I always hesitate to cause branching because the trunk on mine isn't that sturdy. Maybe someone will come along and help both of us.

Or you could try cutting and pasting your post down in houseplants in the cactus and succulent area. You might get more responses there.

Thanks what you said about it popping off a leaf it just happened this morning. I am going to let it harden off and try and propegate it to start a new plant (fingers crossed) and thanks for the cut and paste idea. Not sure how to bounce around this site but will try. If I have any success will let you know. Thanks again.....Life is to short Just breate

Your jade wants more sun. If all you get naturally is indirect light, look into artificial/grow lights. This will open up your possibilities for many other plants, too.

May God bless the WHOLE world!

If you trim new growth it will force the plant to grow bushy. To do so wait for the baby leaves to sprout then pinch them off.You will notice new growth at the base of you plant but make sure it get a good amount of sun,you will see faster results.
