I seem to always turn to you guys when one of my goats eats a plant that I don't know what it is.

My mom thought she remembered it being a purple passion - but it doesn't look like that to me.

I need to know ASAP because one of my goats ate it and now one of them has the runs. Not sure if it is related to the plant or not (it makes a difference in treatment). So thanks for any help.

Not a hydrangea. The leaves look similar to my yellow twig dogwood.

if this is a weigela http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=Weigela+&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2

then that is not what plant I have growing.

A dogwood? it is more like a bush then a tree.........so can it still be a variety of a dogwood?

according to this pic
http://waddell.ci.manchester.ct.us/garden_images/id_dogw-yel-twig.jpg

it might be. I am treating my goat like he ate it and it upset his system, but if it isn't the plant I dont' know what caused his problem..........:(

Red and yellow twig dogwoods are more like bushes than trees, especially when they are routinely cut back. Has it ever bloomed that you can remember? Since your mom called it a purple passion could it be a type of lilac maybe? (although the leaves don't realy look like a lilac)
