I was at the front of my house, street side, weeding out some planters to move them to the front door we use. I heard a swoosh/whoosh/splash/snort/rumble of falling rocks & sand sound behind me. I wirrled around, while trying not to pee my pants, and saw a BIG fuzzy butt running away from my direction into the scrub. A b b b bear! So my survival instinct says go back in the house, so instead I walk across the road to see if I can see Yogi. You see right across the road theres a small slip of land, maybe 15 feet wide, then a side creek from the stream that forms what I call a flood pond, Yogi was right on the other side of that 'pond'. A running bear could cross it in 1 or 2 strides, then theres more land with willows, sycamore, sand etc, about 30 feet i guess, then the actual Woodland Valley stream. I want to go over there before theres rain and look for his footy prints.... really... kinda..... not gonna happen without someone with me, a camera, some bear repellant. Hmmm they dont usually scare me but I dont want to go round a tree & suprise anyone. If I had to run theres too much that I'd trip & fall over that he'd just run right through. I wonder if they really hang their charmin on a tre branch??
Then last night, we were sitting out BBQing some chicken, and we heard a big branch snap in the trees etc. over there. We have had Yogi sit in the multiflora brambles across the road, watch us, and come into the yard as soon as we go in to go after the bird feeders & BBQ.
When he hows himself I'm sure I'll get some pics.
Here's Boo-Boo on my truck last year. Naughty boy!

This is paper & cardboard trash I had brought out to put in the dumpsters. He was in there so I left it behind my truck till he was gone. I guess he liked the smell of it or was just curious. Someone else took the pics and emailed them to me.

Cool pics. That's a sight we see often around here. We keep our trash cans in the shed until garbage pick up day.

Wrennie, bears that small usually have bigger mommas close by.

It's a good thing you DIDN'T pee your pants. Bears are HIGHLY attracted to human urine.

Tammy the fox actually made me a bit more nervous than the bear. I guess cause I've encountered so many more bear, and think of the fox as less predictable.
