the healthy growth is the dark color with milky green stems. i really like it and can't wait for it to get where she can give me a cutting!

Hmm, that sure looks like Fennel to me,
tear off a bit of the ferny part and see if it smells like liquorish . . .

. . . or maybe it's Dill?? why But it should like sun, so I don't know.

I was thinking dill or fennel as well. Really doesn't look like a fern to my inexperienced eye. Maybe it is just use to part-shade and a full-sun exposure shocked it??

As Zuzu's petals and LandOfOz said, your plant looks somewhat like fennel
[Florence Fennel,Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum];

does it have "anise-like" flavor and odor?

i'll have to check on the dill or fennel. it is definitely not an asparagas fern as we both have one of those. i know that even the new growth didn't like the full sun, and within hours of getting it out of the sun, it perked right up. i'll keep you posted.
