This is my first time to plant beets and have never paid attention to them in the store. Can anyone tell me how big they should be at the time of harvest?

Hi and welcome. It depends on what variety of seeds you buy. Did you buy any yet?

I wouldn't leave the beet root get any bigger than 3 inches, that's about the best size for them.

i am not sure it is a community garden so i was told that it would be best to plant the tomatoe seeds indoors cause it is best to just plant the tomatoe plant instead of the seeds that is why i needed to know what type of soil do i use

Just a potting soil would be my guess for seeds. That's all I use when I seed in my trays.
